Missin' my Grandpas!

It's almost 3:00 am. I have just finished a horrible weekend of work and I am so tired. BEYOND TIRED!! I am sitting here in bed with my laptop, a bowl of apples, and my sweet Brady right beside me, snoring softly..*for the moment*. And now Bubba has just climbed into bed saying "My brain stings" Not quite sure what that means! :)...I don't know what exactly triggered my thoughts this morning. I think it may have been a quick glance at this picture of my Grandpa pushing Brinley on the swing. I am missing my Grandpa's!!.....So much. My kids have the 2 most amazing Grandpa's who love them so much! I am so happy for that! Whether it's Grandpa Rich who calls to check up on the kids or see how I am doing when Brady is out of town, or is always chasing the kids down to give them their birthday spankin's... Or Grandpa Dahlquist who shows up at our house with Animal crackers for the kids and then dances cheek to cheek with Livi! All of my kids have loved dancing with their Grandpa! These are truly amazing men! Cute Livi will not go to many people right now without screaming, but she has both of her Grandpa's wrapped around her tiny little chubby finger!

My Grandpa Darley, I only knew for a few years. He lived in Japan until I was about 25. Bulleted ListHe was so adorable. For those of you who have seen, "Up", he looks just like the little Grandpa on there. I cry everytime I watch it. He was quiet, very quiet but had such a fun little chuckle! Once you got him laughing it was absolutely contagious! I remember the first time meeting him, he was here with his sweet little Japanese wife, Hisako who also was VERY shy and VERY quiet. So to come into our LOUD home was extremely overwhelming, to say the least! We sang "Happy Birthday" to his cute wife, Hisako and she started crying because she was so taken back by it all! And I don't think either of them said more than a few words that night. He was so quiet, but so kind! He loved Gardening and plants! That's where mom gets her green thumb from! :) It was so fun finally seeing where my mom got so many of her attributes from...many years later! I miss him.

My Grandpa Dahlquist was amazing! I remember so much about him. How he smelled..(like old spice), How strong his hands were but how gentle he always was, how he didn't say much but I just always knew how much he loved me. I used to love to sit and watch him eat his Grapefruit every morning. I thought the grapefruit spoons were the neatest invention ever! He always called me "Sis" ....I remember sitting on his lap and always wanting to pull on his eyebrows! (they were gray and long)...I know, weird! And I just remember his hugs! He was so strong! Oh I miss him!

How lucky my kids are to have these 2 amazing Grandpa's who love them so much! There is nothing greater than a hug and kiss from your Grandpa! I miss mine so much and can't wait for the day I can hug them again!!
